Marko Lulic rebuilds in his works modernistic monuments in different materials as much as he investigates utopian moments of modernism in his videos. His interests focus on the relation of form and ideology and the question what these terms mean today.

In the exhibition “Luft, Licht- Gute Aussicht” Marko Lulic enhances his topic “house”. He exhibits fragments of the form of “Lulic House No. 1 (Weekend Utopia)” as an abstract object in the gallery space.

“Lulic House No.1 (Weekend Utopia)”, a sculpture that is in the same time a functional house, built by the company oa-sys, got exhibited 2005 as a part of the exhibition “Tu Felix Austria – Wild at Heart” at the Kunsthaus Bregenz.

The spatial concept of the exhibition “Luft, Licht- Gute Aussicht” does not only refer to “Lulic House No. 1 (Weekend Utopia)”, but is also a coreferential gesture of the artist with which he reacts on the space filling installations in his preceding exhibitions at Gabriele Senn Gallery with a fragile installation.

… “Lulic House No. 1 (Weekend Utopia)” marks another concrete allusion, this time to Albert Frey’s House No. 1, Palm Springs, 1940. After the exhibition is over, the work will be erected by the artist as a house on the Croatian Adriatic coast. It will not only serve as a private house, but as an artist/critic in residence program. Setting forth previous investigations of form and ideology, this installation represents a further development in the artist’s work and his interest in form and ideology…
